Join us for this webinar focusing on practical implementation of Open Journal Systems (OJS) at two university presses: the University of Johannesburg Press and the Revistes científiques de la Universitat de Barcelona (RCUB).

The presentations will focus on  publishing multilingual journals, configuring the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network and Reviewer Credits plugins, ensuring a complete ISSN Agency record through OJS and updating copyright metadata (if needed).

The Moroccan Scientific Journals Portal (PRSM) offers Moroccan and international researchers an open-access digital publishing service for their research. This platform manages the entire editorial process, including article submission, peer review, and online publication.

The East African Association of Neurological Surgeons (EAANS), based in Nairobi, Kenya, has initiated a project to improve production and editorial processes, and strengthen the visibility and impact of its official journal, the East African Journal of Neurological Sciences (EAJNS).

The Institute for African Alternatives (IFAA), based in Cape Town, South Africa, has initiated a project to improve the quality and sustainability of its flagship Diamond open access journal, New Agenda.

The focus of New Agenda encompasses South African, African and international developments in social and economic research and policy.

Jimma University in Ethiopia has initiated a project to strengthen the sustainability and improve the quality of three scholarly Diamond open access journals that it publishes: the Gadaa Journal, the Ethiopian Journal of Social Sciences and Language Studies, and the Ethiopian Journal of Education and Sciences.

The Laboratoire de botanique et Ecologie Végétale, based at the University of Lomé in Togo, has initiated a project that will strengthen the editorial and technical capacity of the Revue Ecosystèmes et Paysages by adopting an easy-to-use publication platform, acquiring equipment suitable for editing and publishing, adjusting procedures and workflows, training the journal's staff and editorial board and developing a sustainability strategy.

The Kenya Library and Information Services Consortium (KLISC) has initiated a project to improve technical, editorial and management capacity of its official publication, the KLISC Journal of Information Science & Knowledge Management. KLISC is EIFL’s partner library consortium in Kenya. 

The Institute of Accountancy Arusha in Tanzania has initiated a project to significantly improve the quality, operational resilience and long-term sustainability of the Journal of Informatics through a strategic mix of capacity building, technical enhancement, and financial stabilization.

The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) library in Kenya has initiated a project to boost the operational and financial sustainability of the Multidisciplinary Journal of Technical University of Mombasa (MJTUM) by upgrading the management platform of the journal and building the capacity of the journal’s management and editorial teams. 

Gabès Higher Institute of Management / Institut Supérieur de Gestion de Gabès in Tunisia has initiated a project that will help to secure a long term future for the bilingual (English / French) peer-reviewed Diamond open access Journal of Academic Finance by ensuring its sustainability, while continuing to improve its quality, impact and visibility. 

In this article, Tetiana Yaroshenko, EIFL Country Coordinator in Ukraine, traces the history and growth of open access and open science in the country over the years. She shines a light on how the international scientific community, including publishers, continued to support Ukraine after Russia’s invasion in 2022, significantly expanding access to knowledge and enabling Ukrainian scholars to continue to research and publish.
