ILS OpenBiblio
Integrated Library System OpenBiblio is an "Open Source" software for management of automated catalogue systems of libraries.
Openness means that it is free (can be freely downloaded from a website), but also makes possible its localization (translation and adaptation to local writing system), adaptation to local bibliographic codes, filing rules or management requirements.
OpenBiblio is used mostly in small and middle size libraries (up to 60000 titles) which makes majority of Georgian libraries, including public, school, college, university, NGO or governmental libraries (e.g. Ministries).
We make installations of OpenBiblio online (on library or school websites) or offline (library PCs with Windows or UNIX). We provide slightly modified version of OpenBiblio with UTF-8 localization Multilanguage interface (Georgian, English, German and Russian), SRU contact to Library of Congress catalogue, advanced “Reports” module with various useful tools for librarians.
We also provide training of librarians, consultations and a printed Manual for OpenBiblio users (in Georgian).
Our support includes for example recovering databases after a crash or virus attack, data security issues, online or phone consultations, etc.
We work with OpenBiblio since 2005 and made installations in about 100 libraries. Since then there was no single unrecoverable case.
OpenBiblio is written in PHP/MySQL platform. Currently we use version 0.7.1.
It supports MARC21, import of MARC files, barcode scanners, fee/charges system, and much more. Though it lacks some functionality of modern systems (e.g. has no user interaction tools, MARC export).
