EIFL Open Access Programme Project Coordinator Milica Ševkušić will talk about equitable and affordable access to knowledge at the Open Access Week 2025 event for the Botswana Open University community. The event will also cover trust and transparency in open access publishing, copyright, fair use and rights retention topics. EIFL Country Copyright Coordinator in Botswana Mr Khutsafalo Kadimo is among the speakers. 

Iryna Kuchma, EIFL Open Access Programme Manager, will address librarians participating in the Botswana librarians forum on Equitable access and affordability. The event is organized by EIFL's partner, the Botswana Libraries Consortium (BLC).

The EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) team has released a new ‘Small Bites’ training video for public librarians and public library trainers, titled ‘Different roles of a good trainer: Instructor, Facilitator and Coach’.

Join us for this EIFL webinar with Ina Smith, Planning Manager, Academy of Science of South Africa and Khulisa Journals Manager, and learn how to access, interpret and combine journal statistics from multiple sources, including OJS statistics, Altmetric data, Google Analytics and indexing services. Ina will demonstrate how to locate and export key metrics to create a concise one-page overview of statistics, and a dashboard that supports editors and journal managers in communicating insights to their editorial boards and using data to make informed decisions.

Jevgenija Sevcova of EIFL will give a presentation during an event organized by the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) in Kyrgyzstan to celebrate International Open Access (OA) Week 2025 . In her presentation, to be given online, Jevgenija will raise awareness of researchers in Kyrgyzstan about opportunities to publish in open access for free or at discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs) through agreements negotiated by EIFL.

We’ve revised and updated our guide to support publishers of Diamond open access (OA) journals to enhance the quality of their journals and to encourage alignment with established best practices in scholarly publishing.

Iryna Kuchma, EIFL Open Access Programme Manager, will speak at OSICU 2025 - the ІV International Conference ‘Open Science and Innovation in Ukraine 2025’. The two-day conference is organized by The State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine, EIFL’s partner in Ukraine, in cooperation with TIB (Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology University Library), with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. 

Iryna Kuchma, EIFL Open Access Programme Manager, will participate in this webinar on Best Practices for No-Fee Open Access Journals in Latin America. The webinar is organized by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and the National Council of Rectors of Costa Rica (CONARE), as part of International OA Week 2025 celebrations.

The webinar is free and open to all and takes place in three languages - English, Portuguese and Spanish - with simultaneous translation. 

Iryna Kuchma, EIFL Open Access Programme Manager, will speak at this webinar on guidelines for open access publishing and applying for research grants in Ukraine. The webinar is organized by the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Library, the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine and the Academy of Digital Development in celebration of International Open Access Week 2025 (20 - 26 October). EIFL and EIFL partners are taking part in several events during OA Week 2025.

Iryna Kuchma, EIFL Open Access Programme Manager, will give a keynote address during International OA Week 2025 celebrations hosted by Busitema University Library in Uganda. 

The library is hosting a series of events to take place from 20 - 25 October. The theme of the celebration is  ‘Our Campuses, Our Community, Our Knowledge: Opening Access for Ugandan Solutions’. Iryna’s address (delivered online) takes place on 25 October.

The meeting will focus on efficient editorial management workflows and there will also be time to discuss participants' news and updates. 

Iryna Kuchma, Manager of the EIFL Open Access Programme, is to give a keynote address at the 4th Annual Research Dissemination Conference organized by EIFL’s partner library consortium, the Consortium of Uganda University Libraries (CUUL). The conference theme is ‘Empowering Africa through Open Knowledge: Bridging Present Realities and Future Innovations’.  During the conference, CUUL will celebrate its 21st Anniversary, with the launch of the CUUL journal. 

EIFL Open Access Programme Project Coordinator Milica Ševkušić will facilitate consultations on institutional open science policies and publishing regulations with librarians from research and academic institutions in Serbia. The consultations will focus on the progress made and challenges encountered in adopting and updating institutional policies.

EIFL Open Access Programme Project Coordinator Milica Ševkušić will present the Diamond Discovery Hub, an international registry of academic Diamond open access journals, at a webinar for journal editors and managers organized by the National Diamond Open Access Capacity Centre in Serbia. Participants will learn about the registry’s inclusion criteria and how journals can become part of the registry.

EIFL and the University of Latvia Library are organizing a webinar on rights retention and secondary publication rights, two powerful tools to boost the achievement of open access to research.

The aim of the webinar, titled ‘Retaining author’s rights to enable open access to research outputs’, is to raise awareness of rights retention policies in Latvia and the issue of secondary publication rights found in European legislation.
